Prepare a well-balanced meal for residents of our partner's Solid Ground Supportive Housing Program, Chicago’s first bilingual, male-intentional supportive-housing program for homeless youth ages 16 to 21. Your help will allow the organization to regularly offer this meal, which will add consistency to residents’ schedules and also expands the staff’s capacity to attend to other departments of this multi-faceted organization. Cooking experience is not required. This program occurs during the residents’ free time when they are arriving home from school or work and therefore, it is not required for them to join in and cook alongside the volunteers.
Some residents may help with the cooking and will visit with volunteers as they work, but do so voluntarily. Volunteers are encouraged to interact with the residents in various ways during the program if they are around.Partner: La Casa Norte serves youth and families confronting homelessness, provides access to stable housing, and delivers comprehensive services that act as a catalyst to transform lives and communities.
